The Northwest Independent School District encompasses 232 square miles and is uniquely situated northwest of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex in the counties of Denton, Tarrant and Wise. 	J. Lyndal Hughes Elementary Tea Exemplary rated Hughes Elementary is nestled right in the middle of Lost Creek Ranch. It is a brand new school within the Northwest ISD, having opened its doors the first time for the 2005 - 2006 school year.
